May 1, 2022 · I have a word highlighted in Word that refuses to go away. If I delete it, the adjacent work becomes purple. If I take out the whole paragraph, the last word in the previous paragraph turns purple.

If so, to remove the highlight from the text, follow the steps below: "1. Select the text that you want to remove highlighting from or press Ctrl+A to select all of the text. 2. Go to Home and select the arrow next to Text Highlight Color. 3. Select No Color."

Jul 15, 2012 · You haven't supplied a version for your Microsoft Word but I'm guessing that you have inadvertently turned on Track Changes. You should be able to toggle the option on and off with Ctrl+Shift+E or look for the Track Changes commands within the Review tab's Tracking group (Word 2007 and 2010).
