1000 yard handgun shot
Oct 23, 2012 · In the early 1980's, I managed a shot at 200 meters (that's 656 feet) on a handgun metallic silhouette range. My target was a hanging ram. Missed the first shot and hit on the second. The gun was a Ruger Super Blackhawk three screw, using 240gr JHC Sierra bullets over 23 grains of 240, open sights from a rest.

Oct 14, 2007 · Just sayin'. Yes it would probably work, but at 30 yards just use your 870 and triple ought buck and you will most likely drop the deer where it stands. That shotgun is a far better hunting weapon. If you are looking to get into handgun hunting for a sport there are much better choices than a .40 Glock.

Great round for Hog's and Deer to around 200 yards. 45GAP I am a huge 45GAP fan. Gaston did a pitiful job promoting this round. The Colt 1911 Fan Boy Gun Writers did not see the need.

Sep 13, 2023 · My first centerfire handgun was a Ruger Blackhawk "3-screw" with the 6 1/2 inch barrel; a Christmas present from my wife in 1968. I killed a deer with it in 1969 using handloads. Specifically a Norma 160 grain JHP over 16 grains of Hercules 2400. My current .357 Magnum revolver is a Ruger Security Six Stainless with the 4" barrel.

I've been carrying Hornady Critical Defense, 9mm, 115 grain. Have not exhaustively researched this. Hornady was highly recommended by my concealed carry instructor.

Jul 6, 2023 · One day when we were supposed to go to Mt Charleston it hit 109 (now that was hot, even for me) . Once we got on the mountain, the temp dropped to 70. What bliss!! The smell of ponderosa pine filled the air and deer in velvet were not at all keen to have their pictures taken.
