WikidPad makes making notes, linking them and finding them back very fast and very easy. It allows you to create and maintain multiple independant wiki's, that are each stored in their own folder on disk.

WikidPad supports a number of facilities for textformatting. This page explores the basic functions, other pages within TextFormatting explore specific subjects. Formatted text is for the larger part only visible as such in Preview and Html.

Creates a new wiki and opens it in the current workspace (Wikidpad window). The name for the new wiki has to be a valid WikiWord . Wikidpad will offer to create it in the default wiki folder (see Settings: Default open/new dir.) but any folder can be chosen.

This is the latest backend for WikidPad. Like Gadfly, this also stores each wiki page in a plain text file with a .wiki extention in wiki / data. The database to index the wiki is stored in the file "wikiovw.sli". This type is nearly as fast as Compact Sqlite, but it doesn't have it's disadvantages. It dóes however need an external binary. The way to do it in Wikidpad, is to use the "rel" scheme. This scheme has the format: "rel://" (without the backslash!) and is during preview replaced with the path to the folder of the active wiki. Html export turns it into a correct relative path reference.

WikidPad supports a number of features in the area of page formatting, like: automatic generation of titles, based on the page's page link; setting properties like foreground, background and link colors; using existing pages as templates for new ones. WikidPad can export wiki pages to. an XML file; a set of .wiki files ; a multi page text file. To export a wiki to .wiki files you can select the predefined option: "Wiki / Export / Export Wiki to .wiki files" in the main menu. This function uses default WikidPad settings.

Wikidpad supports a number of functions, that dynamically add page links to a page in preview and html export. These link functions are generally referred to in Wikidpad as "link insertions" (see also: insertions ).
