If I start with a negative number, it's already on the negative half of the number line and will be flipped to the positive half: $-2 \times -3 : -3 \rightarrow -6 \rightarrow 6$. That is, multiplication by a negative is the same as two steps: multiplying by the thing as if it had no negative, then applying the negative sign.

The technique you described in your question involves finding a reference angle in the first quadrant (the reason you drop the negative sign), determining the quadrants in which the cosine is negative, and then finding the angles in those quadrants with that reference angle.

Sep 15, 2020 · Word is treating a negative sign brought in from Excel as a hyphen and leaving it on the line above while it wraps the rest of the number to the next line in a table cell. My first solution was to replace all the hyphens with non-breaking hyphens, but all that accomplished was that Word then pulled the first digit of the negative number up a line.

Word thinks of the minus sign as a hyphen and puts that at the end of one line and the number at the beginning of the next line. I don't really want to add extra spaces before the - to force it to the next line, but that's all I've been able to think of to make it work.
