Hope Vale (also known as Hopevale) is a town within the Aboriginal Shire of Hope Vale and a coastal locality split between the Aboriginal Shire of Hope Vale and the Shire of Cook, both in Queensland, Australia.

We have a whole beautiful valley with crystal clear spring-fed creeks, patches of rain forest and hillsides covered in grass-trees backing onto Wrattens State Forest. There's 1,375 acres of land - the boundaries of our property are the ridges of the mountains that encircle us, and many rare species abound here.

Hope Vale Aboriginal Community is in a beautiful rural setting, 46 kilometres north-west of Cooktown. This is the traditional country of the Guugu Yimithirr, a tribal nation which stretched from the Annan River in the south, to Princess Charlotte Bay in the north.

Hope Vale township is situated 46km northwest of Cooktown and is located in a valley surrounded by tropical native bushland, mountain ranges, pristine coastal and diverse flora and fauna, Hope Vale has a population of approximately 1300 people.

Hope Vale is located about an hour’s drive north of Cooktown. The Thubi Warra People are recognised as the Traditional Owners of Hope Vale [1] and Guugu Yimidhirr is the main language spoken.
