The Galil is a series of Israeli built rifles designed in the 1960's by Yisrael Galil and Yaacov. These were made by Israel Military Industries aka (IMI). The Galil design was a blend of the Finnish Valmet and Kalashnikov AK-47. Most Galils are chambered for either the 5.56×45mm NATO or 7.62×51mm NATO cartridges.

IDF troops also went to war wielding the domestically produced Galil assault rifle. The Galil was a fascinating hybrid weapon incorporating laudable features from a variety of proven designs. The IDF fought the miraculous Six-Day War in 1967 with FN FALs.

Optics and accessory picatinny rails, improved controls, and built in NATO and com-bloc calibers, the Galil ACE was set to compete against global service rifle offerings. It is produced under license in four countries.

The IWI Galil ACE, also marketed as IWI ACE (or simply ACE), is a series of assault rifles and battle rifles originally developed and manufactured by Israel Weapon Industries (IWI). It is produced in three different calibres: 5.56×45mm NATO, 7.62×39mm and 7.62×51mm NATO. IWI US also produced semi-automatic only variants of the Galil ACE.
