Dec 15, 2010 · I saw that the HMS Polyphemus had been drawn superbly in the Beginners' section recently, and that made me want to do this. It is basically a smashed-up Royal Sovereign class from the archive, with some above-water modifications such as a flying deck and slimming down of the ship overall, and a complete redraw of the ship below the waterline.

HMS Polyphemus, a 64-gun third-rate ship of the line of the Royal Navy, launched on 27 April 1782 at Sheerness. She participated in the 1801 Battle of Copenhagen, the Battle of Trafalgar, and the Siege of Santo Domingo.

HMS Polyphemus (1881) was a torpedo ram in use from 1881 to 1903. The Polyphemus class was a semi-submerged torpedo cruiser armed with eight torpedoes, proposed in 1914.

HMS Polyphemus was an Alecto-class sloop designed by Sir William Symonds, Surveyor of the Navy. Originally classed as a steam vessel (SV3), her classification would be changed to a Third Class Sloop. [1] She initially served in the Mediterranean, west coast of Africa and the Baltic. She was wrecked on the Baltic side Jutland on 29 January 1856. [2]
