Jun 11, 2012 · "This Land Our Land" is a new exhibition by Dale Weston, Sally Harrison and Annie Clarke at Ipswich Art Gallery, which I visited today. There is some fantastic work by Dale Weston and Sally Harrison in particular.

Dale Weston and Sally Harrison are two of the most prolific and respected Indigenous artists in south-east Queensland. They first met in 2004 when they shared an exhibition of their work at the Ipswich Art Gallery.

Weston has been painting since very early childhood. After a serious accident in the late 1990s prevented him from finding work as a boilermaker, he taught himself dot art and found it came to him naturally.

Dale's works are stories of the dream time and his own childhood experiences when life was simple and his best friend was the land. His method of painting is somewhat primitive using basic tools of wooden skewers and pins, what this technique accomplishes is breathtaking.
