Abraham Alexander Wolff (Hebrew: אברהם אלכסנדר וולף; 29 April 1801 – 3 December 1891) was the chief rabbi of Denmark and translator of the Torah into Danish. Wolff was born in Darmstadt, Hesse-Darmstadt, to the merchant Alexander W. Gans and his wife Henriette.

Abraham Alexander Woff was born in Darmstadt (Germany) in 1801. In 1826 he was appointed as chief Rabbi of Jews of Grand Duchy of Hesse in Germany. Later In 1828 was appointed as the chief Rabbi of Jews of Denmark and Copenhagen Jewish community.

WOLFF, ABRAHAM ALEXANDER (1801–1891), chief rabbi of Copenhagen. Born in Darmstadt, Germany, he graduated from the University of Giessen in 1821, writing for his dissertation Der Prophet Habakkuk (Darmstadt, 1822).

German rabbi; born at Darmstadt April 29, 1801; died at Copenhagen Dec. 3, 1891. His first teacher was his father, Alexander Wolff, a merchant, who was well versed in the Talmud and who destined his son for a rabbinical career. At the age of six the boy astonished the scholars of Darmstadt by his knowledge of Hebrew.

Abraham Wollf skrev en disputats om profeten Habakuk og tog eksamen med udmærkelse 1821 ved Justus Liebig-Universität Gießen. Blev derefter ansat som rabbiner i Gießen og 1826 af storhertug Ludvig 1. af Hessen og ved Rhinen udnævnt til overrabbiner i Øvre Hessen.
