An active weather pattern kicks off the week in Colorado, with scattered thunderstorms today and Monday, followed by a dramatic shift to intense midweek heat.

Mostly sunny this morning, then new storms this afternoon. Especially east of El Paso and Pueblo Counties, these could be strong to severe with hail and wind. Another surge of moisture this evening could create a strong or even severe storm near Colorado Springs.

Severe storms prompted a Pinpoint Weather Alert Day on Sunday. The attack on the ship comes as Iranian-backed militias in Iraq are also suspected of numerous drone and missile attacks over the past two weeks.
