Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced he is deploying thousands of Texas National Guard soldiers and Texas Department of Public Safety troopers ahead of planned anti-ICE protests across the state this weekend.

Abbott's announcement did not detail where the troops were sent, but some were seen at a protest Wednesday night in downtown San Antonio near the Alamo.

The massive deployment represents more than 20% of the state’s military forces and roughly half of the Texas Department of Public Safety commissioned officers.
