President Donald Trump has pardoned former New York Rep. Michael Grimm, a Republican who resigned after being convicted of tax fraud, a White House official confirmed to USA TODAY on background.

Former gang leader Larry Hoover, who attracted support from celebrity rappers, is one of several people who had sentences commuted by Trump on May 28.
