MIAMI (AP) — Tropical Storm Erick forms near southern Mexico, National Hurricane Center says.

Tropical Storm Erick formed in the Eastern Pacific Ocean early Tuesday morning some 450 miles southeast of Punta Maldonado, Mexico, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC).

The depression was likely to become a tropical storm later Tuesday and a hurricane Wednesday, the US National Hurricane Center in Miami said.
