Kansas and Missouri voters have spoken on abortion. But nearly three years after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down the federal right to the procedure, sending the issue back to the states, abortion continues to dominate politics on both sides of the state line.

Kansas City, Missouri, police were called Sunday afternoon to the Fast Stop at 7100 Eastwood Trafficway on reports a pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle.

Some two million people were under a flash flood warning in the two states as several inches of rain fell, trapping some in their cars.

Mayor Quinton Lucas called the action by Republican Mike Kehoe an "unnecessary escalation." He also criticized the state's lack of response when a white nationalist hate group marched through Kansas City last month.

Protests were held across Kansas City on Saturday. The largest, at Mill Creek Park in KCMO, drew thousands. KSHB 41’s Fe Silva filed this report.
