JCPenney’s new parent is cutting about 5% of its corporate workers. Plano’s Catalyst Brands is reducing its staff by about 250 out of the 5,000 it has, according to a spokesperson.

Sparc Group, the parent company of Forever 21 and Aéropostale, announced it merged with JCPenney to create a new company called Catalyst Brands.

NEW YORK — JCPenney’s fledgling parent company, Catalyst Brands, is undergoing the second round of layoffs of its corporate employees as part of an ongoing review of the newly formed business.

Catalyst Brands will operate at the current corporate location of JCPenney in Plano at 6501 Legacy Dr. The company returned to its former HQ space in 2022 after vacating in 2020 following bankruptcy.
