Houston Astros shortstop Jeremy Peña has a fractured rib and will be placed on the 10-day injured list, interrupting Peña’s breakout season and dealing the team another injury blow. Peña, who was hit by a pitch in Friday’s game against the Chicago Cubs, has “a small fracture in one of the ribs on his left side,” the Astros announced Monday.

Shortstop Jeremy Pena was placed on the injured list Monday by the Houston Astros. Chicago Cubs starter Cade Horton hit Pena by a pitch in the ribs on Friday and Pena missed both Saturday's and Sunday's games. He was still feeling the injury and subsequent medical examainations revealed a fractured rib.
