Three U.S. Army soldiers were onboard a BlackHawk helicopter that collided with a passenger jet near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, U.S. officials said on Wednesday.

Sixty-seven people died in a collision between a Bombardier CRJ700 regional jet operated by PSA Airlines and a military Black Hawk helicopter.

The National Transportation Safety Board said the cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder from the American Airlines jet that collided with the Black Hawk helicopter Wednesday have been recovered from the wreckage in the Potomac River and are now at the NTSB labs for evaluation.

The aircraft that collided in Washington, D.C., were a Bombardier CRJ700 jet operated as American Eagle Flight 5342 by PSA Airlines and a U.S. Army Sikorky UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter.
