Mayor Andre Dickens stopped by the Zone 3 Police Precinct in southeast Atlanta Thursday afternoon to say thank you and to hand out a few sets of car keys.

11Alive Photojournalist Tyson Paul also spotted some officers setting up barricades in the area. Some of the demonstrators had signs had shouted chants at the Zone 3 precinct.

Major Scott Kreher is the Atlanta Police Department’s new Zone 5 Commander, replacing retiring Major Wayne Whitmire effective Thursday. Major Kreher began 23 years ago as a patrol officer in Zone 3.
