A federal court has issued an injunction against U.S. Border Patrol following a series of immigration raids earlier this year in Kern County, prompting renewed scrutiny from civil rights advocates.
Federal agents removed crew members from Victory Cruise Lines, Viking, and Pearl Seas vessels as part of an undisclosed operation in the Great Lakes region, according to USA Today.
The operation, which took place in the Sacramento area, nearly 600 miles from the U.S.-Mexico border, is the latest show of force from the Border Patrol in the state, which joined a full-cavalry raid in a Los Angeles park earlier this month.
The operation appears to directly violate a court injunction issued in April to require warrants by Border Patrol, according to two law professors.
