It seems the mainstays of Alaska reality TV are here to stay, but the days of slapped-together shows about vodka distilleries or construction companies might be over.

Here in Alaska, TV crews have been everywhere the last few years, clutching scripts for “unscripted” shows and handing out confidentiality agreements, asking us to play along.

According to a new insider report, more than 20 reality TV shows are currently being filmed in Alaska, covering such varied topics as unusual jobs, dating in Alaska or surviving in the wilderness.

The series premiere will be broadcast on ABC at 9 p.m. Alaska time (10 p.m. Eastern) on Thursday, Oct. 6, and will be available to stream on Hulu the following day.
