The chain saws are gas-powered, with an orange top casing, gray base and black front handle and hand guard. "STIHL" and "MS 391" are printed in an orange circle on the starter side of the unit.
Chain-brake systems that stop the chain in response to blade kickback are now standard on nearly every saw, but Stihl's MS 280 C-BQ ($470 with chain and 16-in. bar) doesn't stop there.
The recall is for Stihl MS 461 gas-powered chainsaws and the MS 461 R chain saw with a wrap handle. Recalled saws have a serial number between 173092800 and 181993952.
Though Stihl saws can handle ethanol gas blends, the company does sells ethanol-free fuel for its saws. Fernstrom doesn't recall offering that product as a solution for O'Keeffe.
