The former Spirit of Norfolk has made it to her final resting place.

DESTIN, Fla. — The newest artificial reef in the Gulf was once docked in downtown Norfolk.

The Spirit of Norfolk now rests beneath the waves off the coast of Florida, transformed into an artificial reef nearly three years after a fire ended its time on the Elizabeth River.

The former dinner vessel that cruised the Elizabeth River for 30 years before a fire consumed it back in June 2022 has been sunk off the coast of Destin-Fort Walton Beach.
