In 1871, noted suffragist Susan B. Anthony traveled to Olympia and became the first woman to address the Washington Territorial Legislature.

Fire crews were able to prevent the blaze from spreading to any adjacent buildings in the office complex, but the building where the fire broke out was a total loss.
