The foreign ministers for Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo signed a U.S.-brokered peace deal to end the bloodiest conflict of the 21st century.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda on Friday signed a peace deal facilitated by the U.S. to help end the decadeslong deadly fighting in eastern Congo while helping the U.S. government and American companies gain access to critical minerals in the region.

President Trump claims credit for the outcome. The main question now is how the treaty will be implemented as fighting still rages in eastern Congo.
