After testing, we've concluded that remote thermometers are a convenience item most people can do without. We timed how long it took for the probes to reach 212 °F in a pot of boiling water.

A probe thermometer (I used the Thermapen One ... If you see the egg poking above the surface, top up the boiling water when the egg is in the warm water pot. Keep a notepad.

Remember, using boiling water for calibration is not ideal ... should be very close to 32°F (0°C). Insert the Thermometer: Place the probe of the digital thermometer into the ice water mixture.
