ODESSA, Texas — The Odessa City Council is considering whether to allow backyard chickens within city limits, a discussion sparked by rising egg prices and residents’ interest in urban farming.

An ordinance prohibiting commercial motor vehicles from traveling in the Odessa, Texas, city limits is beginning to show its effect, as five truckers were found guilty of violating the law July 25.
