In 2008 the school officially became affiliated with New York University under the name Polytechnic Institute of NYU. Currently, it has 1,939 undergraduate students and 2,548 graduate students.

Roughly 4,890 students attend NYU-Poly; more than 40,000 attend NYU. Poly students will now graduate with a diploma from NYU. The two schools’ athletic departments are also merging.
