As the school year begins, Saint Mary’s students and community members start preparing for the concert band’s December and April concerts.

The University of Mary is presenting its annual spring band concert on Sunday.

This concert, celebrating Alumni Weekend at the college and the Maritime Heritage Festival at Historic St. Mary's City, will showcase works by Leos Janacek, Aaron Copland and Claude Debussy.

The University of Mary has scheduled its annual Fall Band Concert for 3 p.m. on Sunday in Founders Hall of the Lumen Vitae University Center.

The Saint Mary’s University Concert Band will host its first rehearsal on Monday, Aug. 29, for interested musicians.

The band could not play a finale of their three hardest-rocking tunes then leave the crowd at peak energy levels; the audience needed an encore. And, of course, The Mary Wallopers delivered.
