Mohamed Salah said the death of Liverpool teammate Diogo Jota in a car crash had left him "frightened" to return to the club as the Premier League champions postponed the return of some players for pre-season training.

THERE was a release of emotion as Liverpool celebrated a Premier League title win earlier this year, stored up for 35 years on the back of a 30-year title drought and the fact that the league win in 2020 occurred behind closed doors.

As a child Diogo Jota idolized Cristiano Ronaldo. In a career that took him to soccer stardom, he would go on to call the Portugal great a teammate and win some of the sport’s biggest trophies.
