In the movie, the setting is early 2000s North Carolina. It follows teen rebel Landon Carter: a popular kid who hides his feelings behind a stoic facade.

The first of Carter’s three installations, titled “Ripple,” is on view at MUSC now, a 5-foot-by-7-foot artwork inspired by Carter’s own experience of losing his mother to cancer.
