Kylian Mbappe was released from the hospital on Thursday after experiencing acute gastroenteritis, the club has announced. The French star missed Real Madrid's opener in the FIFA Club World Cup, suffering without him in Xabi Alonso's first match in charge, drawing 1-1 with Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal.

Xabi Alonso said Kylian Mbappé is "better" as he recovers from gastroenteritis, with Real Madrid hoping to have the star forward available for their last Club World Cup group game against RB Salzburg. Mbappé was absent on Wednesday as Madrid drew 1-1 with Al Hilal in their opening game in Group H, after being hospitalised this week.
