On July 4 only, guests who wear red, white and blue to participating Krispy Kreme shops can enjoy a free Original Glazed doughnut, limit one per customer.

Krispy Kreme, which hasn’t operated a retail location on Long Island since 2006 — when its Riverhead store closed — recently announced it was ending its partnership with the fast-food chain earlier this week, just months after introducing its doughnuts at area McDonald’s in March, according to a news release.

It seemed like a great idea. Back in 2022, Krispy Kreme started testing selling its doughnuts at nine McDonald’s restaurants. It only took a few months before that expanded to 160 stores, mostly in Kentucky.
