After more than a century serving up breakfasts, chocolates, and memories, Riverhead’s beloved Star Confectionery — known as “Papa Nick’s” — will close its doors on Aug. 27.

I sprinted across the yard toward my mother and father-in-law’s house. Since they are in Mexico doing treatments for Mom’s cancer, we get to help with things around the house.
