King tides will bring very high — and very low — tides to O.C. Beachcombers along the shore at Seal Beach are out for the large King Tide hitting the coast this week in Orange County.

King Tides, extremely high and low tides occur when a full or new moon is closest to Earth in its elliptical orbit, according to Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks.

King tides will near 7 feet, giving a peek into the future for planners to get a glimpse at what sea level rise might look like along the coast.

Extreme High and Low Tides are set to occur over several days in late December. On Friday, December 23, the tide reaches a high of 7.61 feet at 8:26 am and then falls to -1.96 feet at 3:45 pm.
