Their devastated mum, Emma Garwood, 40, and her husband Mark, 37, said they felt as if they had been thrown into oblivion after being given the heartbreaking news.

Records showed Emma Garwood, 22, of Taylorsville, was charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle and failure to reduce speed. Shane McCurdy, 18, of Kenly, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
