BYU secured its highest-ranked quarterback pledge since 2002 when four-star recruit Ryder Lyons, No. 49 in the 2026 ESPN 300, picked BYU over Oregon.

The Ducks tried hard to get Lyons, particularly after 5-star QB Jared Curtis announced his commitment to the Georgia Bulldogs earlier this spring. Oregon was favored to land Lyons for quite a while, but ultimately, the reports of what appears to be an incredibly lucrative NIL deal for Lyons swayed him to BYU.

The five-star signal caller from Folsom, California, is the third-highest rated recruit in the 247Sports to commit to BYU, and the highest since 2003.
