Disney's 20th anniversary re-release of "Revenge of the Sith" in theaters was a resounding success. While Star Wars shows have a mixed track record, its films have historically been box-office hits.

Disney reported that “Episode IV: A New Hope” earned $36 million when it was rereleased in 1997, and “Episode I: The Phantom Menace” earned $14.5 million during its 25th anniversary rerelease.

During the wilderness years between "Revenge of the Sith" and the 2012 Disney takeover, the animated "The Clone Wars" TV show was the only screen "Star Wars" in town.
