Acutis was 15 when he died in northern Italy in 2006, after a short bout with leukemia. He has become enormously popular especially among young Catholics who have been flocking to his tomb in Assisi.

The pope approved the new canonization date for the two young blesseds and set Oct. 19 as the date for the canonization of seven others.

Carlo Acutis, an Italian teenager, was meant to be made a saint in April, but the ceremony was postponed because of Pope Francis’ death.
