The Texas State Capitol and surrounding grounds are temporarily closed to the public on the afternoon of Saturday, June 14 after the Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed the agency had fielded a "credible threat" targeting state lawmakers attending the No Kings, Kick Out the Clowns protest slated for later in the evening.

Just hours before the "No Kings" protest at the Texas State Capitol in Austin, the building was evacuated following what officials described as a credible threat targeting lawmakers expected to attend the demonstration.

The Texas Department of Public Safety evacuated the Capitol and Capitol Grounds in Austin Saturday around 1 p.m. According to the Department of Public Safety (DPS) Capitol Region, they identified a credible threat toward state lawmakers planning to attend a protest at the Texas State Capitol Complex Saturday afternoon.
