The Justice Department’s decision to drop corruption charges against Mayor Eric Adams prompted multiple federal prosecutors to resign.

U.S. District Judge Dale E. Ho wrote “there has been no adversarial testing” of the government’s push to abandon the prosecution of New York Mayor Eric Adams.

A federal judge on Friday declined to immediately approve the Justice Department’s effort to drop the criminal case against New York City Mayor Eric Adams, instead appointing an elite Supreme Court advocate to present “adversarial” arguments on the department’s bid to abandon the corruption charges.

Appointed counsel will advise court about the Justice Department’s controversial request to drop charges against Adams.
