FILE – In this July 10, 1996 file photo, a crowd gathers at the base of the Arthur Ashe Monument after the ceremony dedicating the statue on Monument Avenue in Richmond, Va.
The statue of Mr. Ashe, a Richmond native, was defaced with “WLM” and “White Lives Matter.” The letters “BLM,” for Black Lives Matter, were spray-painted over the initial graffiti.
English Heritage has asked for advice on how to protect its statue of Sir Arthur 'Bomber' Harris in London. Sir Arthur was the RAF Commander-in-Chief who oversaw bombing raids in Germany.
