For the second time in as many months, portions of The Greenbrier Hotel are slated for public auction, according to a legal advertisement placed in Lewisburg’s West Virginia Daily News on Thursday that was first reported by MetroNews.

A second legal notice in Gov. Jim Justice’s hometown newspaper announcing another impending auction of his historic Greenbrier Resort is merely a formality, Justice said as his family continues to work with a lender to keep the hotel.

The sale is listed for 2 p.m. Oct. 25 on the front door of The Greenbrier County Courthouse in Lewisburg. The ask is for cash in hand to be paid on the day of the sale.

The Greenbrier Hotel is once again up for auction due to default, according to a Notice of Trustee’s Sale posted by West Virginia Daily News in Lewisburg. According to the Notice, there was a default under the terms agreed upon under the Deed of Trust.

Owned by the Gov. Jim Justice’s family, the Greenbrier was up for public auction in August after JP Morgan Chase sold the $9.4 million debt owed by the owners to Beltway Capital, which then set an auction date to collect the debt.
