Shane Lowry was given a two-stroke penalty after the second round of the Open Championship at Royal Portrush Golf Club on Friday. Lowry was determined to have caused his ball to move while taking a practice swing in the rough ahead of his second shot on the par-5 12th hole.

Royal Portrush showed its teeth on Thursday as the 2025 Open Championship field got the full links golf experience. The weather shifted and changed throughout the first round to create challenging scoring conditions, and some handled it better than the rest as the first 18 holes concluded in Northern Ireland.
Open Championship coverage is on NBC, USA Network, Golf Channel and Peacock, and Round 2 tee times begin at 1:35 a.m. ET on July 18.
