Dallas Stars forward Roope Hintz will be sidelined for a week with a facial injury but avoided a fracture. General manager Jim Nill said Tuesday that Hintz has to keep his heart rate down for 5-7 days to avoid pressure or swelling.

As facial injuries continue to plague the Stars ’ roster this season, top-line center Roope Hintz is the latest victim. After taking a puck to the face at the 10:45 mark of the second period of Saturday night’s game against Edmonton, Hintz left the game and did not return. He was taken to the hospital and ruled out for Sunday’s game in Vancouver.

Stars forward Roope Hintz was hit with a puck shot by Edmonton Oilers center Adam Henrique and left the ice with a towel pressed against his face on Saturday, and after his club's 5-4 loss, Dallas coach Peter DeBoer said the veteran was receiving tests.

The centre was ruled out of Sunday’s contest against the Vancouver Canucks after he took a puck to the face in a loss to the Edmonton Oilers the day before.
