After the July 14 storm flooded areas of New Jersey, the National Weather Service issued an alert for more extreme weather ahead.

New Jersey remains under a state of emergency after heavy rains brought flash flooding to a number of towns including Plainfield where two people were killed in the flooding.

The two women in their 60s were killed after their car was swept into the Cedar Brook during the height of the storm.
