After Chicago Public Schools initially claimed ICE agents visited a Southwest Side elementary school Friday morning, it was later confirmed that this was not the case.
Around 11:15 a.m., the agents attempted to enter Hamline Elementary School, Chicago Public Schools’ Chief Education Officer Bogdana Chkoumbova said.
School officials responded to the agents with the understanding that they were from ICE, “amid rumors and reports that the agency was in the community,” a district spokesperson told CNN.
