Strong winds caused a Celebrity Cruises ship to break from its moorings in Alaska this week. The incident occurred while Celebrity Edge was visiting the capital city of Juneau on June 16.

On the afternoon of June 16, 2025, Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Edge broke free from her mooring lines – likely as a result of inclement weather. Video taken by witnesses shows heavy rain and wind. “Ship broke away from [mooring] and supposedly slammed back into the dock. No communications from Celebrity whatsoever,” a current passenger reported.
