Marco Sturm is back in Boston, but the Bruins aren’t just chasing memories, they’re hoping his defense first approach can bring order to a team in need of direction.

Bruins didn’t do well, putting the puck in the net led the loser’s board, followed closely a recurring physicality problem and a new issue.

The Bruins were looking for a defensively responsible coach and Sturm checks that box. Coaching in Los Angeles’ system, defense was a priority. During his time in Boston, Sturm was a responsible 200-foot player, and he’s tried to mold his own players in the same fashion.
