Maira Thomas is a scuba diving instructor. She wanted to involve more women in the sport, so several years ago she started ScubaMAR Maids, an online community of women, who travel and dive together.

In fact, the National Association of Black Scuba Divers says Dawson is the first African-American woman to dive on all 7 continents. She did it in five months and 22 days.
