It's named after former Winnebago County board member Jerry Finch, who was a strong advocate for creating a dog park in the northern part of the county. The new dog park will be the county's second.

Finch, chairman of the county’s Parks and Recreation Committee, said the establishment of a 15- to 20-acre dog park could cost $200,000 to $250,000.

The department will be holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Jerry Finch Winnebago County Dog Park, 1111 Ehlers Road, in Fox Crossing on Tuesday.
